Here’s how you can amplify your current content marketing strategy by adding YouTube to the mix.
Andy Crestodina over at Orbit Media published this strategy on their blog. And here’s the three step process on how it works.
- Step number 1, identify evergreen articles on your blog that’s already ranking and already attracting visitors.
- Step number 2, produce a video version of that blog post and put it up on YouTube.
- Step number 3, and here’s where it comes full circle, you take that video and you embed it back onto the original blog post.
They’ve done this with over 10 articles and the results are in. By adding a video to their highest performing articles, they saw a noticeable lift in search ranking and traffic for those articles. This means that adding a video to your highest performing blog post makes them perform even better.
They also saw that visitors who watch a video on their blog post spent 4X more time on that link, are 4.5X more likely to convert and were 10% less likely to bounce. And the result is an article on Google that drives traffic to a YouTube video that’s embedded into the article and vice versa, where the YouTube video on YouTube drives traffic back to the article itself.
